Delhi government has issued a nationwide appeal for blood donation on the forthcoming Jayanti of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. A special blood donation camp will be organised by the Delhi Government to mark the birth anniversary of Amar Shaheed Bhagat Singh on September 28. For the convenience of Delhiites, blood donation camps will be organised at more than 50 places in Delhi.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "I appeal to every Indian — this time on 28th September, the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, please step forward and donate blood for the country and its people.  Amar Shaheed Bhagat Singh laid down his life for the country, let us all help those in need by donating blood on his birth anniversary. I appeal to the youth across the country to organise blood donation camps wherever possible and motivate as many people as they can to donate blood."

He added, "Bhagat Singh sacrificed his life for the country and we can donate blood on this auspicious occasion. Everyone is requested to donate blood on September 28th. We will run a mega blood donation camp on that day. Those who are eligible and healthy enough to donate blood are encouraged to do so. People who have diabetes/are underweight or fall in one of the categories of ineligible to donate blood need not do it. "

He continued, "Delhi Government is making special arrangements for smooth conduction of drive and the convenience of the donors. We have marked more than 50 venues for blood donation and we will release their list very soon. People can go to their nearest facility to donate blood. Not just in Delhi but youth across the country should donate blood on that day. Moreover, they should also try to make arrangements so that the residents of their neighbours can also donate blood."
