Greater Noida: A massive fire broke out in a flat on the 17th floor of Vedantam Society in Gaur City 2, a residential society in Sector 16C on October 24, 2022. Although no casualty was reported, there has been a loss of property.
As gathered the fire broke out after firecrackers kept near an earthen lamp caught fire. Society residents also allege that the fire grew out in proportion as the fire tenders arrived an hour after the incident. Meanwhile, the fire system in the society was also allegedly defunct.
Chief Fire Officer Arun Kumar Singh says, "The information came around 10:05 pm. The fire was massive and had reached the 18th floor too. The residents of the tower were evacuated. Four fire tenders reached the spot and brought the situation under control."
Later at night, some residents came out and demanded action against the builder. They also jammed the Taj highway around 1 am. Thereafter, Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The Police team along with ACP, Central Noida Arvind Kumar reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Annu Khan, a resident of the society says, "The fire broke out and the fire system was not working. As a result, all the things in the flat including the walls were burnt. There has been a loss of lakhs of rupees. The fire team also reached late due to which everything got burnt. Residents want a proper investigation against the builder."
ACP, Central Noida, Arvind Kumar says, "2 flats had caught fire. The fire system of this building was also not working. So, the fire brigade personnel had to put out the fire using hose pipes. Moreover, there will be an investigation if the people want."
