Noida Authority takes up cleaning of drains at sector 18 market

Noida Authority has taken up the cleaning of drains at Noida's sector 18 market. The initiative has been taken after the Authority removed encroachment from the area. However, local vendors and some commuters are raising a complaint about the mismanagement of sludge on the market premises. They say that this is creating a stench which is preventing visitors from coming to the market.

They further say that in the process of cleaning the trains, the Authority workers have damaged the cover on the drain which is creating further problems.

Rajesh Singh, owner of an electronic goods store at sector 18 market informs that visitors are not coming to the market due to the filth and foul smell. He says, "It has been days since I am not opening my shop because customers are not coming in and the markets appear to be empty the entire time."

Vijay Kumar, a mehndi artist at the market says, "The Noida Authority has taken the right initiative as the drains in this area were clogged. However, the wedding season is on and I'm not even able to set up my stall."

The President of the Noida market association, Sushil Kumar Jain, has appreciated the initiative of the Authority. He says, "Open drains are an issue throughout Noida. Here, in Atta markets, there were many drains where 4-wheelers used to get stuck."
