Cycling is a popular sport amongst the residents of Delhi and NCR. There are several cycling groups across Delhi NCR which organise daily or weekly cycle rides. These cycling groups have people from all age groups and apart from keeping the residents fit, such rides also act as a way of coming together of people. Even when not in groups, solo cyclists can be seen riding their way alone on the roads of Delhi and NCR. While cycling is something people pick up to stay healthy, there have been some recent life threatening incidents that has left the cyclists shocked and scared. Such incidents make one reconsider of the safety measures while cycling on roads. Thus, here are a few points one must keep in mind before going out for a ride-
Wear your helmets
Not enough can be said about the importance of wearing helmets while cycling. Choose a perfect-fit helmet and wear it while riding. Make sure that the helmet is not too tight or too loose. Any mishap while cycling can cause multiple injuries but a helmet will protect your head and face, hence this habit should be encouraged by everyone.

Warm-up is a must
Before any kind of intense workout, one needs to set their body in motion and thus, warming up is always necessary. Same goes for long cycling rides. A good warm-up session will keep you more energised and focused while you're riding.
Focus while riding
If you have a co-rider or distractions around you, the chances of any mishap could increase. At such times, you need to remain completely focused on your path and your surroundings. Follow the traffic signals and keep and eye on the road for any kind of obstacle.
Before going for a ride, make sure to have a ore workout mealto have enough energy to ride. If you are not charged enough, then you won't be able to give your 100 percent.
Plan your ride
If you go without a plan, you won't be able to focus on your ride as you'll be distracted to figure out directions, keep a track of time and be aware of the other vehicles around you.
