Delhi MCD Election 2022: The campaign for the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections has reached its final stage today. The election campaign will be called off on Friday evening. Candidates and leaders of different parties will be able to campaign till Friday, December 2, 2022, evening only. From Friday evening, no party candidate will be allowed to campaign, not even commute with the flag of the election symbol on the vehicle.

Significantly, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi election is going to be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Votes will be cast for the MCD elections from 8 am to 5:30 pm. The counting of votes for the elections is to be done after three rounds, on December 7, 2022, and the result will also be declared on the same day. The number of wards has been reduced in the MCD elections, earlier elections were held in 272 wards. After delimitation, the number of wards decreased and this time elections are being held in 250 wards. These are the first MCD elections after the integration of MCDs and delimitation of wards.

According to the report of the Association for Democratic Reforms, 1,349 candidates are trying their luck in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections to be held on December 4 for 250 seats.

This time the number of women candidates in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections is the main attraction of the elections. This is because the total number of female candidates is more than males. According to the Delhi Election Commission, 1349 candidates are in the fray this time, out of which 382 are independent. Of these, 709 female candidates and 640 male candidates are in the fray for the post of councillors in 250 wards.

In the national capital, the State Election Commission has identified 3,356 critical booths at 492 locations. The SEC has also made multi-layered security arrangements at the polling stations for the smooth conduct of the elections.
