Noida: Shaheed Smarak, Noida celebrated the 74th Republic Day by paying floral tributes To 39 Martyrs of Gautam Budh Nagar. The celebration happened with the National Flag and defence forces flags fluttering majestically in the background and adding to the great ambiance of the memorial. During the event, COVID 19 precautions as in force, were observed.
To keep the camaraderie alive, Veterans and the common men of Gautam Budh Nagar, paid homage to their 39 gallant martyrs. It is the only, tri-service memorial in the country dedicated to the Nation by then three Service chiefs on 13 April 2002.
Lt Gen GL Bakshi, Chairman of sanstha laid the first wreath on the base of the cenotaph. Thereafter, NOKs of martyrs with their children and grandchildren; Lt Gen SK Singh, ED of sanstha, Lt Gen Surinder Verma, Lt Gen Khurana, Maj Gen DK Sen, Brigadiers Bali, Shashi Vaid, OP Mehta, IP Singh, JP Singh, Venish Rai, Kharbanda, Mahendra Kumar, Commander Narinder Mahajan; members of the Executive Committee of Sanstha, Mrs Jayoti Rana, Principal, Army Public School with six students; and citizens of Gautam Budh Nagar paid floral tribute.
Sweets were distributed to the staff who maintain the beautiful Memorial.
Speaking to the media, Cdr Narinder Mahajan informed that Annual Wreath Laying Function would be on 06 Feb 2023. Admiral R Hari Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, chief of the naval staff accompanied by his wife Mrs Kala Hari Kumar, President, Navy Welfare & Wellness Association, will be the chief guest and release the Souvenir 2023.
