Green light for 5 second, cause of concern for commuters

Dwarka: Committee in Dwarka using road number 205 and the artillery road from Sector 13 Metro Station towards Sector 17 are facing problems due to a green signal at the chowk of Sector 13/17 near Abhinav Global School, Sector 13 and Keshav Kunj Apartments Sector 17. The green signal is only 5(five) seconds with added 3 seconds of yellow. The timing is almost the same for the opposite side signal towards Sector 13 Metro Station.

According to people, a signal has been in such state for months. They share that such a small period of green signal often creates confusion and a hurry to cross the road even if most of the time it gets red while crossing. SN Sinha a resident of sector 13 says, “When you think to start looking at green it takes two seconds to move the car handling the gear clutch, etc. In the rest three seconds you have to cross the signal and accelerate the vehicle. This creates a panic in you while seeing suddenly the yellow and in no time red. Finally, you find that you crossed the road when the signal was red. It is not only creating problems but also  a chance of collision with those vehicles who use master plan road 205 .”

People share that often they cross the light in hurry. They also say that the five-second green signal compels commuters to violate the traffic rule and they start before green which creates an accident-prone area there. Commuters request the authority to look into the subject and increase the green light timing.
