Noida: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is set to launch a feeder service on the Aqua line, with plans to purchase ten mini-electric buses. The NMRC will soon issue a tender for the purchase of these buses, while 50 buses will be operated on the PPP model. An agency has already been selected for 25 buses, with a Request for Proposal (RFP) to be issued soon for the remaining 25 buses.
RituMaheshwari, the Managing Director of NMRC, has stated that the organization is making every effort to commence bus operations as soon as possible. In addition to this, NMRC is also focusing on improving other passenger facilities at metro stations. Maheshwari recently reviewed parking services at Aqua line stations, and discovered that parking is already being operated at three stations in sectors 51, 137, and Delta 1. The rest of the stations will offer parking facilities soon after an agency is selected. Until then, the corporation will operate parking with its own staff. Maheshwari has asked officials to suggest, within two days, which station should have parking initiated.
Ashutosh Kumar, a resident of Sector 51, believes that the feeder service will benefit commuters who previously had to rely on auto-rickshaws or e-rickshaws to reach their destination. With the new service, it will be easier for them to travel home without wasting time on other modes of transportation.
