Firefighters from Noida receive the President's Gallantry Award for bravery

Noida: Three firefighters from Noida Fire Brigade were bestowed with the most prestigious President's Gallantry Award for Bravery. Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, honoured them in absence of the honorable President. This award was conferred to them to honour their noble contribution and unconditional love for the nation. They had saved several precious lives in different places under difficult circumstances.

Vikas, a firefighter from Ghaziabad in 2016 batch, saved five people from fatal situation during a grave incident in 2020. He was one of the three members who received the President's Gallantry Award. He said that in 2020, one of the six storied buildings in Noida Sector 10, suddenly collapsed. He rushed to the site along with his fellow firefighter Navneet Kumar immediately and they heard victims were screaming under the debris. They started rescue work right away and pulled out five people alive from the debris.

Vijay Kumar, from 1991 batch, saved 11 precious lives in 2021. He said, “It was reported at night that a building in Sector 10 was on fire." When he reached the spot for rescue work he found that people were trapped dangerously and smoke had spread all around. In such a situation, he could save 4 people finally.
