Gurgaon: School bus gets stuck in road dug up for CNG pipeline

Hundreds of commuters were caught up in a traffic jam for more than 40 minutes after a school bus was stuck in mud due to the ongoing construction of a CNG pump in Sector 49, Gurgaon. The incident took place around 2.30 pm near Nirvana Country, a township in South City 2.

According to commuters, they had to call Gurgaon police to get the route cleared and it took another 20 minutes for the traffic officials to reach the spot.

“The situation had worsened due to heavy traffic as it was the dismissal time of schools,” said Ruchi Singh, a resident of Nirvana Country.

The school bus of The Heritage School, Sector 62, Gurgaon, was stuck in a service lane where the construction is on full swing. There was no signage for the work in progress due to which commuters were using the stretch.

According to the driver of the bus, he could not make out that the road was dug up for fitting a CNG pipeline and the spot was covered with mud. The school children were shifted to another bus, which inevitably added to the chaos.

The employees of the CNG pump told City Spidey that the work has to be completed before the end of the month and that they had put a signage but it was taken away by miscreants.

A few days ago, residents of various condominiums on Sohna Road had held a protest against the CNG pump. They demanded its relocation and the PWD minister had promised the same. However, the construction work is still going on.
