Kendriya Vihar II: This drain has remained choked for four years now!

Several cases of dengue and chikungunya have been reported last year from the society. But are the authorities bothered?

Kendriya Vihar II: This drain has remained choked for four years now!

Residents of Kendriya Vihar II, a society in Sector 82, Noida, have been complaining about an open drain right outside Gate No 1. The drain has remained choked, which runs along the society's boundary wall, for the past four years!

In the monsoon, the drain overflows, inundating nearby places, including the area near the Sector 82 signal and even parts of the society.

The stench has made life unbearable for residents, and the drain has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

But is Noida Authority bothered? Nope.

Kapil Madan, a member of the AOA, told City Spidey, “We have asked Noida Authority officials to clean up the drain and have it covered plenty of times, but nothing has happened so far. Last year, several cases of dengue and chikungunya were reported from the society. We fear the same this year too."

When City Spidey contacted RS Yadav, project engineer of Noida Authority, he said he wasn’t aware of the problem, but will look into it now.
