RWA of DDA SFS flats, Sector 5, Dwarka, has appealed to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to provide basic facilities in the parks and also improve the greenery.

There are six parks in the society -- all of which lack even basic amenities, the RWA alleged. The iron benches in the park are rusty and damaged, swings are broken and the lights defunct.

For the past six months, there has been no maintenance work in the park, alleged general secretary of RWA, Mahesh Gupta. He told City Spidey that “It been a long time that since the authority took over charge of maintaining the parks. Previously, our efforts ensured the MCD councillor provided lights and equipment and benches. But today, the situation has turned pathetic, as you can see.”

"The swings are in no condition to use. The land is deserted. We have written to the municipal corporation, but nothing happened,” he lamented.

The RWA said that the in central park, there's need for a powerful light at the top. The fancy lights inside the park are poorly maintained, fittings are missing and wiring is damaged. BD Sharma, a member of RWA, said, “These fancy lights must be functional. It doesn't require a huge amount of effort, and must be done soon.”

The RWA is also demanding an open gym area in the central park, as in other parks in the city. Corporation has provided open gyms in other parks in Dwarka, claimed an RWA member.

“We want maintenance and an open gym in the park from the municipal corporation,” said Mahesh Gupta, RWA general secretary.

Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, when contacted, said, “I will send officials to examine the spot. Lights would be made functional by next week. I will also try to make provisions of an open gym there.”
