What makes residents wary of the road in front of East End?

Residents of East End Apartments are tired of the traffic chaos caused by illegal parking and squatters on the road in front of the society. The authorities have done nothing to ease the situation.

What makes residents wary of the road in front of East End?

Residents of East End Apartments in Mayur Vihar Extension Phase I, have expressed concern over regular traffic snarls and illegal parking at the society entrance. The apartment complex, which is situated close to the New Ashok Nagar Metro Station, has 1,306 flats and a population of 5,000.

A large number of vendors, illegally parked vehicles and hordes of e-rickshaws have added to the problems of residents and commuters.

"There is no one to manage traffic during peak hours," said Alka Govil, a resident of the society. “Outsiders come to shop in Ashok Nagar and park their vehicles under the Metro line, right in front of the society's entrance. It is quite cumbersome to enter and exit the society.”

She said that despite having approached the authorities several times, there had been no action.

Speaking to City Spidey, the society president, BK Singh, said, “Initially, some traffic policemen were deployed to ensure smooth vehicular movement but no one knows where those cops are now. To resolve the problem, there should be at least two traffic lights between New Ashok Nagar and Sector 15 Metro stations. A dedicated traffic police constable should also be deployed for the stretch,” he added.

A liquor vendor on the Ashok Nagar main road is another problem for residents. During evening peak hours, a number of vehicles parked in a haphazard manner worsen the traffic situation.
