Residents of Sector 19B Dwarka is celebrating Independence Day with a twist, as they are carrying various cleaning activities in the area. As a part of the initiative residents on Monday cleaned the roadsides that were covered with wild plants.
Scores of residents, including children and elderly, from societies like Sea Show Apartment, NTPC CGHS, Arvind Apartment, and Kohinoor Apartment took part in the drive.
“We initially use to circulate the message about our initiative via WhatsApp groups. But this time we went door-to-door and reached out to the residents, urging them to be more conscious about the environment. With today's turnout, it looks that it was a successful event," said Himanshu Joshi, who is one of the driving force of the initiative.
Joshi and Tarun Manatee are two residents of Sea Show Apartments, who have been continuously putting efforts in making their sector resident and environment friendly.
Himanshu further added, “We do this without any help of the authority or any NGO. In this drive, all residents come together and contribute to the cause."
People like Prem Sherawat from Kohinoor Apartments; Satvir from NTPC and Varun from Sea Show Apartments had put some great effort from their end on Monday. They said that such cleaning drives had become a community drive.
"In the last one year, they carried three such drives. Besides, they formed a specific club for this too called, Club 19B. We want to make the community aware that we must keep our environment clean and Green,” said Tarun Maitee.
