Amid great excitement and fanfare, the ten days of cultural extravaganza comes to an end with Vijaya Dashami. Sushant Lok Durga Puja committee celebrated the festival with traditional gaiety.
On the last of the celebration, the married women offered vermilion on the forehead and feet of the goddess following which they applied vermilion on each other faces and took blessings for long married life.
Ankita Sanyal, media spokesperson said, “This year too, we have tried to put forth our best and the visitors were treated with several visual delights and rejoiced the celebration with utmost joy and festivity.”
This year, there was a lot of emphasis on “women empowerment” during the festival. Women members of the puja committee helmed the preparation of the Puja. A bonanza of culture and modern entertainment was observed during this festival.
Teary-eyed ardent devotees bid adieu to Maa Durga and immersed the idol in an eco-friendly way.
The committee bagged several accolades this year for organising the festival successfully. They received second best prize from Uma Samman in Gurgaon NCR and the Durga Puja Committee of Gurugram awarded them for their green endeavour.
The committee made sure to keep pandal plastic free and ensured cleanliness during the celebration.
