Noida is boiling over politics being played by members and leaders of one particular party over the presence of Bangladeshi nationals in this industrial town. The movement against alleged Bangladeshis is gaining momentum with every passing hour, with activists of this party adding fuel to the fire via their use of social media — especially with the excessive use of WhatsApp. This fire, which started in Noida, has now become a major talking point in the entire NCR.
The incident, which gave a push to the debate, was the one in which there was a violent clash between a mob and residents of Mahagun Moderne, a residential society in Sector 78, Noida, last Wednesday.
Without any evidence at hand, members of the saffron brigade started an anti-Bangladeshi propaganda, terming the mob that incited violence in Mahagun Moderne “non-Indians” living illegally in India.
NP Singh, president of Forum of Noida Resident Welfare Associations (FONRWA), a turncoat who recently switched over to BJP, is quite vocal about the issue. He told City Spidey, "There are about 2,000 Bangladeshi nationals who are at present residing in Noida. Over the years, they have managed to get Aadhar cards and voter cards made but all of them should be investigated and ousted from India.”
SP City Noida, AK Singh, said that the process of verification had already started with the 500 accused in the Mahagun Moderne mob violence. He added that verification for domestic helps already working in the society had also been initiated. However, this seems to be a distant dream. Neither the BJP leader, nor the top cop has any answer for how foolproof identification and verification of these domestic helps can be carried out.
The problem with police verification is that it is not as simple as it seems on paper. Once a verification is interstate, the process is never complete, as there is almost zero coordination between the police forces of two different states.
An officer speaking to City Spidey on condition of anonymity said that most domestic helps staying in Noida, Delhi and other parts of the NCR claim to be from the suburbs of Bengal. He added that whenever Noida Police sent an inquiry for servant verification to its counterpart in Bengal, there was no reply from the other end, making the verification process a complete failure.
Knowing this well, the saffron brigade is gung-ho about identifying Bangladeshi nationals from Noida. Playing such politics perhaps suits its so-called nationalist and pro-Hindu agenda.
