Noida Sector 113 plot allotted to Unitech stands cancelled

Noida Industrial Development Authority on Wednesday cancelled allotment of a huge plot for development of group housing project in Sector 113 to Unitech, a realty company. The reason for the cancellation was non-payment of dues to the tune of Rs 1,203 core the developer owed to the authority against allotment of land.

The action was taken following instruction from Ritu Maheshwari, chief executive officer of Noida authority.

According to an official, the company failed to clear the dues despite repeated notice by the authority for clearance of the outstanding dues.

A spokesperson of the authority said the action was taken as the developer was not forthcoming with his response to the final notice issued to him. The lease deed signed between the authority and the developer now stands invalid.

Though it is mandatory to get the building map approve by the authority, the developer built 17 residential towers in Unihomes without taking prior approval from the concerned department, he said pointing out that it is a clear violation of the Noida Building Regulations 2010.

Moreover, the developer also entered into an agreement to sell with two other developers, namely Mrs. Sethi Residency and JMA Developer without obtaining permission from the authority, he informed. It was again a violation of the lease agreement as the developer attempted to transfer ownership of the plot measuring 19,181.50 square meters as prior permission for was mandatory for carrying out any such transfer.

Earlier, the authority initiated similar action against other big defaulters. They were served RC as they failed to clear the dues they owed to it.
