New Delhi: Delhi on Tuesday reported more than 3,000 cases after a long gap. 3,036 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 3,14,224. The number of new cases were recorded below the mark of 3,000 between October 2-12. The number of new cases reported came out of 54,957 tests conducted on the previous day.

Delhi recorded 1,849 new cases on Monday, 2,780 on Sunday, 2,866 on Saturday, 2,860 on Friday, 2,726 on Thursday and 2,871 on Wednesday.

54,957 tests were conducted, of which 11,023 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 43,934 were rapid antigen tests. The positivity rate slightly increased to 5.52 per cent from 5.14 per cent on the previous day. 35,947 tests were conducted on Sunday, 48,753 on Saturday, 49,736 on Friday, 49,125 on Thursday, 53,322 on Wednesday and 51,505 on Tuesday.

Delhi on Tuesday reported 45 deaths due to coronavirus, taking the death toll to 5,854. 40 deaths were reported on Monday, 29 on Sunday, 48 on Saturday, 38 on Friday, 37 on Thursday, 35 on Wednesday and 39 on Tuesday.

On the other hand, 2,036 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 2,86,880 in the national capital. The recovery rate slightly declined to 91.29 per cent from 91.53 per cent on the previous day.

The new cases outnumbered the recoveries on Tuesday. It affected the active cases count negatively. Active cases increased by 955 in the city. Delhi has now 21,490 active cases. The number of people in home isolation slightly dropped to 12,176 on Tuesday compared to 12,365 the previous day. Out of the total number of 16,117 beds in Covid hospitals, 11,008 are vacant.
