Noida: Uttar Pradesh Government fixed the rate of RTPCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) tests at Rs 700 at the laboratories. In case of tests conducted at the doorstep, the rate will be Rs 900.
The decision has come shortly after residents and social organisations started complaining against exorbitant fees charged by private hospitals.
Earlier in October, the government had fixed the charge at Rs 1,600 at a private laboratory.
The government also warned the private laboratory owners to collect only fixed charges for rendering the services to patients.
Any excess charge would be considered as an offence under the Covid-19 pandemic provision and necessary action would be initiated against defaulters.
