Noida: Sec 34 residents press for splitting weekly market

Noida: Observing the ongoing challenges during Covid times, residents of Sector 34, a densely populated residential pocket in Noida, wrote to the district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar, demanding splitting of the weekly market across different sectors.

They brought the issue of people violating basic protocol for controlling spread of Covid-19 virus during the pandemic.

In the letter to the district administration, the residents said that people from four different residential sectors such as 33, 35, 51 and 52 gather for shopping at the weekly market on every Friday at roads inside Sector 34.

As the weekly market remains crowded for hours, most of the residents do not follow the coronavirus guidelines to keep everyone safe from the deadly virus.

KK Jain, President of Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of Sector 34, said that though it is important to maintain social distancing to keep everyone safe from the virus, people are seen neglecting it especially during the weekly market.

He said, “It is not safe for people in the sector if the crowd for the weekly market is not dispersed. Unknowingly, they may come in contact with positive patients as well.”

“Considering this, the district administration should split the weekly market into four different residential sectors so that the crowd can be distributed accordingly,” he said.
