Dwarka: Few days back, I witnessed that a large portion of footpath over drain collapsed suddenly at Sector 17 near Atulya Chowk in Dwarka. The portion caved into the drain.
Fortunately, there was no one over the footpath at the time of the incident. The footpath is located between Atulya Chowk and Dwarka North Police Station.
This is a serious issue which needs to be taken into concern by the civic body. On that particular footpath, labourers used to sit and their kids used to play. People use the footpath as well. It could have proved fatal to anybody.
I am surprised at the manner in which a large portion of a good-looking footpath collapsed suddenly. It is also not a rainy season. There should be an investigation into the quality of construction material used in the footpath.
This was not the first time when we saw a collapse of a footpath. It happens quite frequently across the sub-city. This is a threat to the people who use footpaths.
DDA is the agency which looks after the footpaths and it must take a serious note on this. Also, any such type of damage in common areas should also be taken into concern. People should write to the authorities too.
