New Delhi: Delhi reported 24,149 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the cumulative tally to 10,72,065. It was the tenth consecutive day when more than 20,000 new coronavirus cases were reported from the city.

Delhi reported 20,201 new coronavirus cases on Monday, 22,933 on Sunday, 24,103 on Saturday, 24,331 on Friday, 26,169 on Thursday, and 24,638 on Wednesday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 73,811 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 46,581 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 27,230 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate was recorded at 32.72 per cent. The cumulative positivity rate was 6.34 per cent, slightly higher than a day before.

The fatalities continued to rise unabated. On Tuesday, Delhi recorded 381 deaths, which is the highest single-day rise since the pandemic hit the city. With this, the toll reached 15,009 in the national capital. Earlier, 380 deaths were recorded on Monday, 350 on Sunday, 357 on Saturday, 348 on Friday, 306 on Thursday, and 249 on Wednesday.

A total of 17,862 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 9,58,792 in the national capital. Active cases increased by 5,906 in the last 24 hours. The active cases rose to 98,264 from 92,358 on the previous day.

As far as vaccination drive is concerned, a total of 57,020 people received vaccines in the last 24 hours. A total of 35,582 people received the first dose of the vaccine whereas 21,438 people received their second dose. So far, 30,49,844 persons have received vaccines in the national capital.

Out of the total 20,653 beds in coronavirus hospitals, 1,812 are vacant. The tally of people in home isolation jumped to 54,578 from 52,733 on Monday.
