Greater Noida: Recent incidents have increased the tussle between the builder and the residents of Mayfair Residency, a high-rise residential society in Techzone 4, Greater Noida West.

Despite the resident's disapproval, the builder, for a second time, started constructing a toilet at the entry gate of towers. On December 18, 2021, one of the residents of the society demolished the ongoing construction of the toilet. Eventually, the police had to intervene in this matter. As per residents, this was the second time that the builder constructed a toilet right at the entry gates.  The residents feel that this is not appropriate and the builder should choose another location in the society.

After this incident, another incident took place on the same day. An outsider came into the society and scratched the surface of the car of Prateet Baijal, a resident of the society. He said, "My car's surface and paint were damaged from all sides. I had to pay rupees 50,000 to get it repaired. Who will pay the money? The builder or the Authority?". The residents point that inadequate security provided by the maintenance team I the reason such incidents are happening within the society premises. Prateet Baijal, says, "My car paint was damaged from all sides. I have to pay 50,000 to repair it. Who will pay the money? The builder or the Authority?" Moreover, there is no CCTV footage of this incident. Residents say that only one guard is available during the night hours in society.

"Residents live in fear. We are not allowing our children to play on the premises of society due to the lack of security.", added Baijal.

Residents shared that they live in fear and have been raising the issue of safety and security in society. The residents complained about missing or unusable fire safety equipment,  open shafts of the lifts, a broken boundary wall, and an inadequate number of CCTV cameras in society. The lift shafts are covered with tin sheets and the hose pipes are not working.

Residents are demanding an audit by the officials of the Greater Noida Authority. They want the Authority to look into the safety and security issues of the society at the earliest.

Another resident, Pawan Pandey says, "The builder had said that things will gradually improve but the living conditions are still quite poor. The society has long term pending security and safety issues and it should be fixed as soon as possible."
