GreNo West: Residents demand underpass at Charmurti roundabout

Greater Noida: With a fast-paced development happening all around, the residents of Greater Noida West are worried about future vehicular traffic situations. To preempt future traffic bottlenecks an essential clog is the proposed underpass at the Charmurti Ubnderpass, something that the residents have been demanding for a long time. The Greater Noida Authority has promised to expedite the project but the residents have their doubts.

On August 19, 2021, Greater Noida Authority shared that the process to start construction of an underpass at Charmurti roundabout in Greater Noida West has been expedited. NEFOWA and the residents of Greater Noida West have been demanding an underpass at Charmurti roundabout. Residents shared that due to barricading at Charmurti roundabout, they have to travel extra kilometers while traveling towards NH 24.

The officials informed that the tender will be passed soon after ensuring all the paperwork for the underpass. However, it is still in the pipeline from the last 4 months.

In the meeting with GNIDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Narendra Bhooshan on July 15, 2021, NEFOWA had raised the problems that commuters face during evening hours at the Gaur City roundabout and demanded an underpass at the location.

Talking to CitySpidey, Senior Vice President of NEFOWA Manish Kumar says, "The Authority had assured that the underpass will come up at the roundabout. However, it was just a promise. Also there is no follow up from the Authority's side, neither any paperwork has been done."

Another resident, Sumil Jalota (40) says, "There are about seven malls to be opened in Greater Noida West. The sector 71 underpass is open, the Parthala flyover will be open and now the Charmurti roundabout will become a bottleneck for the commuters. Population of Greater Noida  West is approximately 3 lakhs. The underpass is urgently needed as it would streamline the traffic and help the commuters. The authority should work on this on priority."
