Greater Noida: On December 26, 2021, the women members of the Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA) organized a menstrual hygiene awareness camp in the slums near Ecovillage 2 in Greater Noida West.

During the camp, the woman distributed sanitary pads and masks among the girls and their mothers. About 150 women from the slum area were present at the hour-long awareness session. Later, food was also distributed among the young children.

A similar camp was organized by NEFOWA on November 15th 2021.

Organizers shared that women living in remote areas and from underprivileged communities either lack the facilities or are not aware of menstruation health. This is a huge health concern. Thus, these camps are a small effort to ensure the health of women in rural and slum areas.

Ranjana Bharadwah (42), a resident of Greater Noida West says, "The organizers said that domestic helpers living in our surrounding areas, construction workers, women living in rural areas are not aware of menstrual hygiene and several times, do not have access. As a result, they fall prey to many infectious diseases."

Shweta Bharati, General Secretary NEFOWA says, "We all are working towards uplifting health and sanitation of rural India from the last few months. More such awareness camps will be organised in future."
