Netflix's upcoming psychological thriller, Windfall

Once again, our favourite actor (Lilly Collins) from Emily in Paris is back with a Film' windfall'. The idea of being trapped inside isn't new these days, and that's the premise for Netflix's upcoming psychological thriller, Windfall - with a twist. The trailer for the film, which stars Jason Segel, Lily Collins, and Jesse Plemons in an isolated drama about a robbery gone wrong, was released today by the streaming service.

The Netflix Studios teaser shows Segel's character robbing the vacation home of a tech millionaire and his wife, who Plemons and Collins, respectively, play. While the trailer emphasises the seriousness of the kidnapping, it looks that there is still room for comedy in this crime thriller, as Segel is unable to open the purse he is stealing from and even needs to seek guidance from his victims on his ransom demand. As evidenced by the title card, which looks startlingly similar to classic Hitchcock films, the film is advertised as a Hitchcockian thriller.

Windfall is directed by Charlie McDowell, who previously collaborated with Segel and Plemons on The Discovery, and features a screenplay by Justin Lader and Andrew Kevin Walker based on a storey by McDowell and Segel, the latter of whom will star in HBO Max's Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty and Apple TV+'s The Sky is Everywhere. Collins maintains her long-term relationship with Netflix, starring alongside partner Kirsten Dunst in Emily's hit series in Paris. Plemons maintains his relationship with the streaming service, having recently received an Academy Award nomination for his role in Netflix's hit film The Power of the Dog.

Windfall will be available only on Netflix on March 18.
