Greater Noida: The Greater Noida authority has imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on Supertech Eco Village One for the disposal of untreated sewerage on March 2, 2022. The Authority has directed the builder to deposit the fine within a week.

Along with this, if the sewerage of the society is not treated soon, the builder has been warned of further action as per the terms of the lease deed of the Pollution Control Board and the Authority.

The fine comes as one of the biggest actions Greater Noida Authority has taken so far in the case of discharge of untreated sewerage. After imposing the fine, the Authority has asked the builder of Supertech Eco Village to start the treatment of sewerage immediately, failing which the authority can take stricter actions such as cancelling OC/CC and FIR. Instructions have also been given to treat the sewerage and make proper management for discharge of wastewater.

Narendra Bhushan, CEO, Greater Noida Authority says, “Discharge in the stormwater drain without treating the sewage is not only spreading water pollution but also violating the orders of National Green Tribunal and Supreme Court. We all have the responsibility to stop pollution. It is imperative to treat the sewage coming out of the societies. Strict action will be taken against those who do not do so. This campaign will continue in the future as well.”
