Noida: Residents of Sector 50, Noida have raised the issue of loose and open power cable connections in Meghdootam Park. Residents shared that such exposed electrical wires can be a life threat for visitors, especially children in the park in case of contact. Moreover, water connections like taps and showers all around the park further increase the danger of a short circuit.

Rajiva Singh, a resident of Noida and a president of NOFAA shared this information with the help tweet,

On this subject, Rajiva Singh says, “We have over 600 parks. Regular electrical audit needs to be done of all lamp-posts, loose & open power cable connections. Audit reports should be displayed in the public domain. It can be fatal if accidentally touched. We have children playing in areas around this.”

He adds, “Maintenance staff in parks are often seen using power cables to switch on water pumps. Many such boxes are open with open wires. A permanent power plug-in point is needed.”

Earlier, residents raised concern over the use of groundwater by officials to irrigate the plants at Meghdootam park.

Sanjeev Sharma, area resident and the electrical engineer says, “Many iron electric poles in the park have open wiring, which can be dangerous during the rainy season."

"Authority should take note of this open wiring immediately as children, senior citizens, and stray animals are often present there. This is also dangerous for the maintenance staff of the park,” he added.
