Noida: The 7X Welfare Team along with Noida Traffic Police created awareness about crossing roads via metro bridges at Sector 59 metro station. As per the team, such a step would be a landmark step in pedestrian safety and also ease the traffic on the road.

Commuters near the metro station were stopped, made aware of pedestrian safety and were advised to use the metro bridges to cross the road. As per volunteers of the 7X Welfare Team, more than 15,000 people from the nearby areas cross the road every day in the morning and evening to reach their destination.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau 2020, 23, 483 pedestrain deaths were reported in India which means that 2 people dying every hour are pedestrians on the road.
We also talked to area residents about this suggestion to understand the situation better. They shared that the Central metro bridge closes after 10 pm and opens at 6 am, hence they cannot use the bridge between that time. As a result, they demand a foot over the bridge for this purpose.

Brajesh Sharma, a volunteer says, “The 7X Welfare team launched a campaign at sector 51 metro station and tried its best to convince the people that they should cross the road through the metro bridge keeping safety in mind. This will be beneficial for everyone as it will keep the pedestrians safe and avoid traffic congestion."

Sanjeev Kumar, another volunteer says, “In reality, passing more than 10,000 people through the metro bridge is a challenge from the point of view of security. In such a situation, there is a need to find a solution by coordinating between DMRC, authority, traffic department, and the general public. The 7X Welfare team will continue this campaign in other places as well and will continue to motivate the people to use the already built foot over bridges.”

7X welfare team is continuously working with traffic police intending to create traffic awareness among all the age groups throughout Noida.
