Greater Noida West: This Earth Day, underprivileged kids learn about environment

Greater Noida West: On the occasion of Earth Day on April 22, 2022, an environmental awareness drive was organised with underprivileged kids at a construction site in Greater Noida West.

The drive was organised by a GreNo based NGO called EthoMart Charitable Trust at a makeshift school near the construction site. During the drive, the children were educated about the issues related to environment. The kids also planted saplings on the occasion. Afterwards, a painting competition was also organised on the theme related to protection of Earth. About 65 kids participated in the competition.

Sarita Singh, a teacher at the school says, “We celebrated Earth Day in our class for environmental awareness among the children. They have made beautiful paintings as have planted saplings as well."

Rashmi Pandey, President of EMCT says, “The reason behind celebrating World Earth Day is to help people understand the importance of the  environment and take necessary steps to save the earth. We should understand the importance of our natural resources and keep them safe so that life does not become difficult due to lack of resources in future.”

Gaurav Chaudhary, a volunteer of EMCT says, “Due to climate change, warm temperature over time is changing the weather patterns and disrupting the balance of nature, to maintain this balance we should make people aware, especially our future  generation.”

Another volunteer, Rahul Kumar says, “On this occasion, we spread awareness among the children. However, all the schools and institutes  should organise an awareness drive on the environment. It is very important for our future generation to know the importance of a  healthy and pollution-free environment.”
