GreNo West: Residents furious over unauthorised parking of heavy vehicles

GreNo West: The residents of TechZone 4, Greater Noida West are grappling with the issue of unauthorised parking of heavy vehicles in the lanes of the area. These heavy vehicles carry construction materials for several construction sites in the area. Residents complain that the drivers of these vehicles park them anywhere in the lanes of the area at night.

GrenoWest: Heavy vehicles parked in service lanes trouble residents

As the schools are now open, the residents allege that these heavy vehicles obstruct the way of school buses. This has made parents furious as they demand Greater Noida Authority and Noida Traffic police to look into the matter.

Vikash Katiyar, a resident of Spring Meadows, Techzone 4 and a member of Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association says, “The traffic police has asked the drivers not to park in our lanes but they don't abide by it. There is no walkable or parking space left because of this.”

Sumil Jalota, a resident of La Residentia, TechZone 4 and a member of NEFOWA says, “If no action is taken by the Greater Noida Authority on this problem, then we residents will be forced to stage a protest. We have some demands that need immediate attention. The roads need to be widened and resurfaced. Service roads should be constructed to avoid accidents."

The residents also say that because there are no service lanes constructed, the unauthorised parking on the sides of the only available road obstructs the flow of traffic.  Azeem Khan, a resident of Nirala Estate, TechZone 4 says, “Space is available for everything but the authority is not working to construct the facilities and maintain this area. An encroachment drive is required in the inter-sector road of Tech Zone 4 between Nirala Estate and La Residentia. Things can get better if the concerned department takes it a little serious. I suggest that they should ask the police to keep patrolling or there should be signages like no parking.”

Sagar Gupta, a resident of Spring Meadows GH-07A, Techzone 4, Patwari, Greater Noida says, “For almost 5000+ families in our societies, there is just a single lane road. There are no footpaths, no vendor zone, no park and no public park. It is evident that such issues will be there.”

On this note, we contacted C. P. Mishra, Traffic Incharge, Noida Traffic Police. He says, “We are continuously taking actions against these heavy vehicles. We'll further look into the matter."

A senior police official from the area says, "With the cognizance of the complaints of the residents of Greater Noida West, Police met the project managers of the construction sites in the morning of July 06, 2022, and have warned them to follow the NGT rules properly. We have guided them to park the vehicles inside the parking zone and make sure not to park these vehicles during peak hours. Strict action awaits those who do not follow this."
