GreNo West: Residents of Elegant Ville protest against builder

Residents of Elegant Ville, a housing society in Techzone 4 protested against the builder on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Angry residents marched from the society to the main road to protest against the alleged incomplete construction in the society, lack of facilities such as maintenance and security, and pending occupancy and completion certificate. During the protest, Women, children and people raised slogans against the builder and blocked the main road in front of the society from 10 am to noon.

Around 150 families reside at Elegant Ville. The booking of apartments in the society started in 2007. Residents allege that construction work was supposed to be completed by 2015 but is still under construction. Residents allege that among six towers, two are still incomplete and no tower has two lifts.

As gathered, some buyers have been given possession while some are waiting for it. Residents claim that they had to move in because they were in need and in dual pressure of paying rent and home loan instalments.

N S Rawat, a resident says, "The builder does not take care of the cleanliness and security. There are so many problems in the society. We are waiting for the second lift to be installed. No tower has two lifts until now."

Sachin Gupta, a resident says, "The builder has taken full money from the flat buyers but the construction has been pending for 11 years. He has also not yet paid the fees to Greater Noida Development Authority. As a result, the completion certificate and occupancy certificate are pending and the registry is also pending due to the non-receipt of CC-OC."

Moreover, some residents allege that despite paying for power backup, this facility is not being provided to them. Ajit Singh, a resident, says, "We face a frequent problem of a power cut and the tripping. Every day someone or the other gets stuck in the lift. As a result, we have to arrange individual backups which are proving to be very expensive."

CitySpidey tried to contact Arif, the maintenance manager of the society but he was unresponsive. We will update the story once we gather their comments.
