Spread across 12km, sector 62 has a total of 47 societies and more than 13,000 flats. Apart from residential societies, there are schools, colleges, markets and other government offices here. As learnt, it is one of the first-ever group housing highrise societies in Noida. Cityspidey met R.K Uperty, RWA president, to know more about sector 62. Uperty is also an executive member of the Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations.

Uperty who has been a resident of sector 62 informs that this sector's plan was the first high-rise group housing plan made by the Noida authority for the government and semi-governmental sectors in 1998. These include officers from IAS, IPS, IRS, ITS, IFS, PMO, Minister of external affairs, CBI, Banks, and also other public service undertaking such as BHEL, Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, SAIL, GAIL, and others.

While explaining how sector 62 is different from other group housing societies, Uperty says that the sector's group housing societies are built on a lease of 99 years after taking the plot of land from the Authority. He says, "We built these societies after calling our architect. Moreover, all officials of the same building in one society such as Vinayak's apartment are made for BHEL officials. I think all of us in sector 62 share the same cultural values that reduces the chance of conflict."

Uperty's panel was elected in 2017 and has been since working as an active RWA in the sector. He expresses that administration is smooth and they receive complete support from the Noida Authority.  "Noida Authority has assisted us in several works such as the formation of parks, open gyms, drains cleaning, garbage cleaning, and arrangement of various governmental health camps in different societies, installation of LED's in green belts, installation of interlocking tiles in footpaths, changing electrical poles, and fogging among many other works."

Uperty adds that till now, 22 vaccination camps have been arranged in the various sectors by the Chief Medical Officer Noida. As the sector is surrounded by several open drains, all the drains have been cleaned and there is no water lodging since 2019 in the societies.

In a message to RWAs of other group housing societies in Noida, he says, "Maintaining a positive and professional with officials from the Noida Authority can help get need help soon. It will also smoothen administration."
