Bakery workshop to make women self-reliant at Dwarka

Dwarka: With an aim to make women self-reliant, a short-term workshop on Bakery was organized jointly by the Food and Technology Department and Women Empowerment Department of Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, at Sector 2, Dwarka.

On the commencement of the baking workshop for the women of various Self Help Groups belonging to the DM office South West district, the Chairperson of the Governing Body of the College, Mrs. Madhuri Varshney said that many women of Goela Dairy have already been given training for making pickles, chutney and papad etc. in the past by Women Empowerment Department of the college.

“On behalf of our college, I would like to pay my sincere thanks and gratitude to DM (South West district) Hemant Kumar for his whole hearted support,” she said.

College Principal Professor Avneesh Mittal said that in the direction of empowering women, the college administration has been running such short term courses from time to time. Women who were trained to make pickles, papad etc. are running their own businesses from home. In the first batch of the bakery, 16 women have been trained and most of these women are associated with one or the other self-help groups. These women are now able to earn additional income through this workshop.
