Noida: Noida will soon have its first-ever international cricket stadium, giving residents the opportunity to enjoy international cricket matches in their own city.

On Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) approved the construction of an international-level cricket stadium in Sector 150 of Noida. In addition to international-level cricket matches, IPL matches will also be played in this stadium.

The committee of the UP Cricket Association has approved the proposal for the construction of the stadium, which will be located near the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Once built, it will be the fourth cricket stadium in the state where international-level cricket matches can be played. Currently, there are two international-level cricket stadiums in UP, located in Kanpur and Lucknow. A new big cricket stadium is also being planned for Varanasi.

Apart from hosting international matches, IPL matches and domestic-level cricket matches will also be played in this stadium. The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has announced that the stadium will be ready within the next three years. Tata, Godrej, Birla and other developers have also been given the green light to build this stadium on March 17. The upcoming stadium will have all the international-level facilities and a seating capacity of 40,000 people. After Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi, Noida will become the fourth city in Uttar Pradesh to have an International Cricket Academy. The UPCA has already acquired all the land necessary for this project. Additionally, the association has expressed interest in building another stadium in Ghaziabad if the land is available.

Greater Noida already has a cricket stadium that has been recognized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). In 2016, the ICC gave its official recognition to the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Cricket Stadium located in Greater Noida. This cleared the way for organizing international matches, but so far, not a single international match has taken place in this stadium due to various reasons. With the construction of an international stadium in Noida, many international cricket matches, including IPL, will also be organized here.
