Dwarka to Be Delhi’s Sports Hub in 2023

Dwarka, one of the most planned sub-cities by the Delhi Development Authority, is emerging as a new sports hub in the National Capital. The sub-city is going to have many new sports infrastructures to serve the community and help in nurturing the budding sports talents of the Nation.

Golf courses, Sports Complexes, Football Stadium etc are there likely to be completed and operational in 2023.  The sports Complex at Sector 17 is almost in the completion stage and as gathered from DDA   it is likely to be inaugurated in the first half of 2023. Almost all the sports facilities like football, cricket, athletics, tennis, badminton, squash, swimming, skating etc are there with other add on facilities like cafeteria, retiring room, restaurant to serve the community. At present there is only one Sports complex at Sector 11 that is in the operational stage.

Apart from Sector 17, there are three more Sports Complexes at Sector 8, 19 & 23 are being made and according to DDA, all will also be inaugurated by the end of 2023. On the other hand, there is a full-fledged 18 holes Golf Course at Sector 14 also to be started in 2023. Not only the sports complexes and Golf course but also  DDA has undertaken the development of one integrated multi-sports arena in Dwarka Sector 19B on PPP mode.

The community of Dwarka is happy yet not sure of the things for their completion in time limit. Rupen Sharma from Dwarka Cycling Club says, “Definitely it sounds good and makes us feel happy but we are listening to such sports complexes coming into the city for a long time.  Hopefully, now they could make it happen this year. One more thing I want to say is that there is a lack of facilities for girls and the authorities must think about increasing providing more sports facilities for girls in those sports complexes.”  Abhishek Mankotia, a cricket coach from Dwarka says, “ The city is full of talent but lacking in sports facilities. I am sure that such new facilities would give good players from Dwarka. I am happy for the sports' future of Dwarka with such wonderful projects to be started in 2023.”
