Ghaziabad: Vasundhara residents grapple with garbage disposal issues

Ghaziabad: People are upset due to the poor collection of garbage in Vasundhara and Vaishali. According to residents, the municipal garbage collection truck comes only once every three days. Residents have complained to the Municipal Corporation and demanded better door-to-door collection of garbage.

The area residents complain that in the face of irregular rounds of the municipal garbage collection truck, garbage is left lying for many days in their homes. So when the garbage trucks eventually come after a long gap, the amount of undisposed garbage in the houses is very high. In such a scenario many residents resort to throwing their household garbage indiscriminately on the road. When the wind blows, foul-smelling emanating from this undisposed garbage spreads far and wide. Some people set this garbage on fire which adds to the pollution of the city. The AQI of Vasundhara was 280 and the AQI of Vaishali was 300, which is a very poor condition of air.

According to residents, wet and dry waste is not being kept in separate vehicles by the municipal staff. In such a situation, the plan to segregate wet and dry waste has completely failed.

When people put many days of garbage in the truck it gets full within a few houses. When the garbage truck is full, the driver blows the horn and goes ahead without waiting enough for the residents. By the time people come out of their homes with the garbage, the truck moves away. After this people have to either throw that garbage on the road or have to keep it again in the house.

VK Mishra, a resident of Vasundhara said, “The garbage truck comes once every three days. This is causing trouble to the people. Even after complaining several times, the car is not being sent every day.”

Gopal Shukla, Vasundhara said, “The sanitation condition in our area is very poor. if the situation doe snot I'm prove soon we will be forced to carry our protest to the We will protest against the corporation.”
