GreNo: Mayfair market, a cause of complaints for area residents

Greater Noida: Residents of La Residentia, Spring Meadows, and Nirala Estate have raised their concerns on the unhygienic state of the market of Mayfair residential society, Techzone 4, Greater Noida West. As per residents, shop owners are dumping their waste indiscriminately on road. Moreover, construction waste was also seen being dumped on the road.

The market does not have separate dustbins to segregate dry and wet waste. The dustbins that are there mostly overflow with garbage and are seldom cleaned. The residents point that an under-construction highrise building next to the market is a threat to the safety of shoppers and market people alike, as there exists a real threat of construction debris falling.

Vikas Katiyar, a 34-year-old resident of Spring Meadows says, “The condition of the market is very poor. No one seems to be using the garbage bin. The construction waste is also dumped brazenly in the market complex Whenever it rains, the pedestrians find it very cumbersome to venture into the market."

Azeem Khan, a 40-year-old resident of Nirala Estate says, “The major issue in the market area is sanitation. The shopkeepers encroach the sitting area, due to which it is difficult to clean that area. There should be garbage bins in and outside the market. Shopkeepers throw their waste on road. The drains are also not clean.”
