Noida: With the arrival of the monsoon, Noida is gearing up by planting trees through many plantation campaigns. Noida Authority's plantation drive under the banner of the Vrihad Vriksharopan program is in full swing. As announced, the Authority will plant 2.64 lakh saplings across 62 places in Noida on July 5, 2022.

As gathered, the biggest plantation program took place at 4:00 pm, on July 5, 2022, in Vedvan park in sector-78, Noida, where 25,000 saplings were planted. Present on the occasion were MP Mahesh Sharma, MLA Pankaj Singh, Nodal Officer of the district nominated by the government Narendra Bhushan, Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department, and the Noida Chief Executive Officer Ritu Maheshwari. Gautam Buddha Nagar DM Suhas LY was also present.

Members of FONRWA, RWAs, DDRWAs, and residents of high-rise societies participated in the campaign starting early across Noida. NOFAA president Rajiva Singh says, "NOFAA has been planting trees for the last 6 years under the DADA - NANI tree plantation drive to pay regard to senior citizens/grandparents. Today, we planted more than 300 plants of Chandni and Calliandra in Meghdutam park sector 50, Noida, with the help of residents."

Rajiva further appeals to the administration to supply tree saplings to AOAs and RWAs so that more and more residents can participate in the plantation drive and make it a Jan Andolan. "If possible, trees that have been already planted, need to have tree guards as well as Geo Tags so that these saplings are kept safe," adds he.

A tree plantation drive was conducted in Rajat Vihar, C Block, Sector 62, Noida. Rajeev Sharma, president of Rajat Vihar, C Block, Sector 62, says, "We planted 20-25 plants of Jamun and Sehjan. We will extend our support in keeping our environment clean and reducing the effects of global warming."

Apart from these, the plantation will be done by Noida Entrepreneur Association and will cover 5 places. Moreover, MSMEs such as Kent RO, Samsung, etc. will cover one patch each.

As gathered, the work of digging the places for the plantation was completed on July 4, 2022, and saplings were sent to dedicated places. The nodal officer nominated by the government, Narendra Bhushan, principal secretary of the Public Works Department, inspected the site and reviewed the work. The work was also reviewed by Chief Executive Officer Ritu Maheshwari. The CEO of Noida Authority has directed that geo-tagging and videography of the entire plantation should be done.
