CIPL FOUNDATION, a Delhi-based NGO, has started offering refreshments to people standing in queue outside banks in Sector 18, Noida.

Vinod Sharma, a Noida resident who has returned home empty-handed after standing in queue twice, said, "I have been waiting since 9.30 am and the refreshments were a pleasant surprise. It was a nice gesture."

Anuj Kumar, who was in queue at HDFC Bank, lauded the NGO's efforts and said there was a discernible change in people's moods after the refreshments. "Standing in line all day can make one cranky. The refreshments helped us calm down."

"We have been distributing refreshments in Delhi for the past five days," said Ramesh Chand Dayma, a CIPL Foundation member. "There have been incidents of commotion, aggression and even death. We took this initiative to help those standing in endless queues all day. We started with Sector 18, and ten of our members are distributing biscuits, water and tea to people."
