‘Pongal Vizha'  the annual cultural event organised by Dwarkalaya

Dwarka: Dwarkalaya, a socio-cultural organisation essentially composed of Tamilians in Dwarka organised its Annual Cultural Festival, ‘Pongal Vizha’ on 26-January this year at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College Auditorium in Sector 3, Dwarka, New Delhi.

The event was organised after a gap of three years. This year’s festival was dedicated to Kalpana Jayaraman, an active participant in its activities and the brain behind several programs in the past. The program opened with a Ganesh Vandana followed by solo and group dance performances and music by students of Gurukulam Foundation and the National Institute of Indian Classical Dance. In addition, there was a comedy-drama and skit put together by members of Dwarkalaya. 

One of the centre of attractions was the Thirukkural recital in poetic Tamil relating it to real-life examples by two young children from DTEA. The festival attracted around 250 participants.

S Santhakumar, President, Dwarkalaya welcomed the gathering, and  M Jayaraman, the secretary gave the vote of thanks. R Savitri, Additional Director General, Ministry of Statistics & Program Implementation;  Shankari Murali, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Finance;  S Kumar, Director, Indian Air Force joined as guests of honour.  Meena Venki, Hayagriva;  KVK Perumal, ex-Secretary, Delhi Tamil Sangam; N Murali, Secretary, Delhi Bhajana Samaj, S Arunachalam, Treasurer, Delhi Tamil Sangam were among others who participated in the function. 

Dwarkalaya is a socio-cultural organization formed in 2002 and is continuously involved in the nurturing, preserving and developing of the various cultural and social requirements in the city of Delhi.
