Residents of Shri Radha Sky Garden concerned over fire safety

Noida: Residents of Shri Radha Sky Garden, Sector 16 B Greater Noida, have raised their concern over inadequate fire safety infrastructure in the society. An incident of fire was reported on October 2, 2021, in the basement of towers 6 and 7.

The cause of the incident was alleged, a naked wire and water seepage in the basement. As gathered by residents, every monsoon the water gets logged in the basement of the society. Moreover, residents say that there are many naked wires which are directly connected to the electric cable. Thus, seepage from the pillars of the basement is a potential risk. About 700 residents live in the society.

As per residents, the Fire Officer audited the society and submitted the report to the maintenance team and gave 15 days to the builder for the completion of work. However, the situation is the same, the hose pipes are not in working condition. Society does not have any fire sprinklers and fire extinguishers are also not enough in numbers.

A resident of the society, Uttam Chamiyal (43) says, "The lives of the residents are at risk. It's been more than two months since the fire incident but it seems that the builder is waiting for another disaster or he doesn't want to work for the society."

Another resident, Gaurav Patel says, "In April 2020, the first fire audit happened in the society. After the incident of fire, all the residents live under threat. Hosepipe just has a cosmetic presence.”
