Two bike-borne criminals snatched valuables from a woman after assaulting her in Sector 50, Noida, on the morning of April 5.

Bintee Mehrotra, a resident of Amrapali Eden Park, Sector 50, was on her way to Meghdootam Park in the sector for a morning walk when the criminals struck. They snatched a gold chain, mobile and a purse from her.

Rajat Agarwal, another resident of the society, told City Spidey, “The miscreants hit her on the face with the butt of a gun and then snatched her belongings. After this incident, many women in our society have stopped wearing ornaments outside their homes.”

The incident took place at 7.30 am outside the society’s gate, which opens into a narrow road between the society and Omaxe Twin Towers, another residential complex in the sector.

An FIR has been registered at the Sector 49 police station under sections 396 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A similar incident was reported on April 1 from Sector 51. T Sudha Murti, a resident of Alok Vihar II, a residential society in Sector 50, was robbed at gunpoint when she was going in a rickshaw with her son to a mother dairy booth. The incident happened outside gate no. 2 of Kendriya Vihar, a residential society in Sector 51.

Bijendra Singh Bhadana, station officer (SO) of Sector 49 police station, told City Spidey, “It seems the same gang has struck again. We have some clues and will nab the miscreants soon. Two police personnel with bikes have been deployed to patrol the areas on a regular basis.”
